Tryouts are held every year in May for the following Fall-Spring soccer year. We also post information about supplemental tryouts when necessary, often between Fall and Spring seasons. Stay tuned to our website and social media channels for tryout announcements!

Travel teams compete against teams from other clubs in leagues and tournaments while Recreational teams only play games against other Recreational teams from within EYO. Most Recreational teams practice once a week for 60 minutes while Travel teams practice twice a week for 90 minutes per session. Travel soccer is tryout-based while Recreational soccer is not. While Travel soccer is more "competitive" than Recreational soccer in the way it is structured, the focus at Elkridge United remains on fun and player development.

Currently we have teams from U8 through U17.

Currently, travel soccer is divided into age groups by birth year. When signing up for tryouts, you can sign your child up to try out with players in their own birth year or one year older. It is highly recommended that new players try out in their own age group.

Playing for an Elkridge United team costs $375-450 per season depending on the team. Families pay by the season, not for a full year in advance. Families must also purchase a uniform set for $95-110. We are on a two-year uniform cycle, and our current cycle ends after Spring of 2026. Optional winter programming, handled by each team individually, is charged separately and not included in the Fall or Spring fee.

Elkridge United is an entirely volunteer-led and volunteer-run program. Our coaches, program directors, and coordinators all give freely of their time to make EYO travel soccer possible. Each player's fee helps cover league and tournament entry fees, referee payments, registration with the Maryland State Youth Soccer Association, and administrative costs. Fees also help us provide our volunteer coaches with necessary equipment and reimburse them for coaching education expenses.

Elkridge United teams are coached by parents or other volunteers who believe in the mission of providing affordable, community-based travel soccer. The majority of our Head Coaches have their US Soccer Grassroots license, and we work every year toward enhancing our coaching education and helping our coaches become the supportive and knowledgeable guides children need to develop their skills and further their love of the game.

The vast majority of our league games are within 40 minutes of Elkridge, with the occasional league game as far as 60-90 minutes away. The tournaments we attend are also within 60-90 minutes of Elkridge with many taking place in Howard County.
